Description
PYGMY GOAT FOR SALE
Pygmy Goats were originally called the Cameroon Dwarf Goat since they originated in the former French Cameroon area. They are mostly found in West African countries. Similar forms of Pygmy goats also are found across northern Africa, southern western African countries, and in east Africa.
PYGMY GOAT FOR SALE were exported from Africa to zoos in Sweden and Germany where they were on display as exotic animals. The first Pygmies probably arrived in the United States in 1959 from Sweden.
Pygmy goats have a full coat of straight, medium-long hair which varies in density with seasons and climates. Most often they have a grizzled (agouti) pattern produced by intermingling of light and dark hairs, of any color.
Pygmy Goats, as you might guess, are a breed of miniature goats. Pygmy goats tend to be kept as pets primarily, although they are sometimes used as milk producers and working animals. Pygmy goats are quite hardy, an asset in a wide variety of settings, and can adapt to virtually all climates.
Pygmy Goats live in company with other goats, but will be happy living with other livestock as well, including sheep and alpacas. If grazed with horses, they must have a safe area that they can retreat to if they are being chased
Pygmy goats will happily live out at grass all year round providing they have a shelter to escape the rain and the wind. An adequate field shelter is essential, as they cannot tolerate wet weather as they are not waterproof like sheep. They will also require a stock proof fenced paddock which is of the utmost importance as goats can be good escape artists. It is a good idea to ensure there are no large objects near the fence lines as goats are also notorious for jumping and playing on things which may allow them to jump the fence and escape. Enriching their enclosure with benches and logs to play on will make them far happier
